Tucson Weekly printed a front page article about a Canadian mining company has bought land in Rosemont Valley on the northern side the Santa Ritas (our southern mountains) to mine copper. This is a bad thing! This will destroy the watershed and ecosystem. Plants and habitat will be destroyed, open pit mines will look ugly, and will bring in diesel exhaust, trucks, and dust. The scenic beauty of Tucson will be desicrated.
Only Republican Supervisor Ray Carrol has spoken out about this. Tuesday, Jan 16 at 9am, the Pima County Board of Supervisors will debate the issue in their hearing room at 130 W Congress. Please come!!!
If you're unable to attend the meeting, call your distric t supervisor (to find your supervisor: www.pima.gov/bos/distmap/images/bos17.pdf )
