1. TONIGHT, MON. SEPT. 18. AZ Game &Fish is holding a workshop/
public meeting regarding their plans for updating their wildlife plan
for the next 6 years. This plan, called Wildlife 2012, calls for
public input regarding all aspects of wildlife management, so those
who have an interest should try to attend, or at least provide
comments to G&F.

The meeting is at the office, 555 N Greasewood, from 6-9pm.

2---National Public Lands Day--Sept. 30
AZNPS will be partnering with the Forest Service at Sabino Canyon to
do volunteer work on this day. The program will run from 8:00am to
noon. There will be a number of projects for people to work on, some
non-native species removal and some flood clean-up. Teams will be
going to various areas. Please plan on arriving a little early and
meet by the Visitor Center. If you have questions, you can email
either Carianne Funicelli, AZNPS coordinator at
conservation@aznps.org or Jonathan from the Forest Service:
Jonathan Pinkney-Baird <jonathan@pinkneybaird.com

3---A Local neighborhood will be the first National Wildlife
Federation's Backyard Wildlife Habitat to be certified in Arizona!
Sweetwater in the Foothills was just featured on Animal Planet's
Backyard Habitat Show and has almost completed everything needed to
have official certification. This program encourages homeowners/
neighborhoods to ensure that their properties provide natural food,
water, shelter, and cover for raising young for the local wildlife.
That means that education plays a key role for all the neighbors
regarding learning about native wildlife and their needs. AZNPS is
partnering with this neighborhood through our non-native invasive
species campaign.
